3rd Heaven

2nd Heaven

1st Heaven

The Scriptures unveil a divine order within this realm.

In Genesis 1:1, the Bible speaks of the creation of heavens in the plural form. This suggests that there are essentially three heavens: the natural heavens of this world, the spiritual heavens of this world, and the heaven of heavens where God dwells.

Paul further elaborates on this truth in 2 Corinthians 12:2.

First Heaven:

  • The natural heavens encompassing the atmosphere of the earth, including the starry skies.

  • Subject to authorities in the second heavens.

  • People engage and function in this realm through the five natural senses.

  • Governed by natural laws such as gravity.

Second Heaven:

  • The spiritual realm of this earth.

  • Inhabited by spiritual beings such as angels and demons.

  • Individuals engage and interact in this realm through their soul and spirit.

  • Satan's kingdom operates from this heaven, exerting influence over the natural world and beings under the first heaven.

  • Subject to spiritual laws and principles, whether for good or for bad.

Third Heaven:

  • The dwelling place of God.

  • Populated by an innumerable company of angels, the general assembly and church of the firstborn, God the Judge of all, the spirits of just men made perfect, and Jesus the mediator of the new covenant.

  • The seat of all authority in the universe.

  • The living redeemed engage with this realm through their spirit, by faith, and through prayer.

  • God's Kingdom operates from this heaven, influencing both the second and first heavens, as well as the beings who populate them.
